Dan Eldon is another photographer that has used a diaristic
approach to produce his work. He was an English photojournalist. His work was
exhibited through his family all over the world because he was stoned to death.
But he left a few series of journals behind. He has traveled a lot of
countries throughout his life which is why he also studied seven different
languages. When he took a year off college, he worked for a magazine called
Mademoiselle. This was in New York. He worked as an assistant director on a
feature film called Lost in Africa when he went back to Kenya.
Dan Eldon was politically motivated which I am not. But I
really liked how he had kept journals of everything such as journals, texts,
drawings collages and anything else such as pictures that he had found. The
work is very interesting to look at as it tells a whole story. Following are a few examples of his work.
I know both the images that I have put above have nothing in common with the work I am planning to make but I have included them in my work because they do tell a story to the audience about what was happening which is something that I want to do as well in my work.
